The recent entry into force of the EU’s Artificial Intelligence Act has been the subject of much debate recently. However, the Artificial Intelligence Act does not address the relationship between the artificial intelligence (AI) and intellectual property rights (IPR), nor the interesting legal issues involved, such as the role of AI as an inventor or author, or how requirements for protection such as originality of the work or inventive step of the invention should be considered in AI-generated innovations or creations. These, and other topical questions will be discussed in AIPPI Finland’s AI Afternoon on 5 November 2024, a premier event dedicated to exploring the intersection of AI and IPRs. This afternoon event will feature a diverse lineup of distinguished speakers from both Europe and the US, offering a unique opportunity to delve into the latest legal questions and industry perspectives related to AI and IPRs.
